 The Issues

The Major Issues Concerning the Citizens of Nevada

After spending time discussing the issues with many Nevadans around the State it is apparent the issues that Nevadans deemed a priority are also many of the issues I represent.

The first item that is always discussed deals with ethics, values and morals. The question always asked of me is  "Will you go to Washington and then forget all the promises that you ran on like so many other politicians."  The citizens have lost hope in our political system and our government. They're expressing their concerns about not having a voice once the campaign is over.  My pledge to you is, "You will not be forgotten."

The next item we must face is the economy. We have to reduce the size of the federal government. This year we will have over 2.5 million federal employees on the payroll of which taxpayers carry the burden. The average salary of a public servant is 70 thousand dollars a year. The average salary of an individual in the private sector is just under 40 thousand a year. We have to bring the salaries of the federal employee working in line with the salaries of the private employee.

Our government borrows 43 cents out of every dollar they spend. That must stop.  I will propose another balanced budget amendment along with a line item veto amendment. If we are going to take control and be accountable to the people it will be up to Congress to reign in the deficit spending. I will vote no on any bill that raises the National debt by one red cent, the American people have had enough. If the money is not there, we can not spend what we do not have.

Next, we must reduce the tax burden on the small businesses that drive the economy so they can hire new employees to produce or sell their inventory. We can not decrease unemployment by spending 2 trillion dollars we don’t have and say we are stimulating the economy by given special interest special favors. Cut small business taxes across the board this will stimulate the economy as has been proven in the past.

Finally, Congress is part of the problem. When we are losing our jobs, our businesses, and our homes, Congress is passing laws to increase their salaries, the pages salaries and adding billions of dollars of pork to bills to get them to pass legislation. WE must stop this. Congress needs to cut their salaries by 15% in these hard times. I will be the leader of this fight. To go one step further, I will request that all federal employees with incomes over 150 thousand take the 15 % reduction in pay.

The American people never voted for these preposterous salaries or the 13 trillion dollar debt we have amassed. WE need to be accountable in Washington with your tax dollars. I will do all I can to ensure we are fiscally responsible from the day I take the oath of office until my service is rendered complete.

Thank you,
